Crockpot Chili Recipe

Easy Crockpot Chili is a great dinner idea that will last all week and can be eaten several different ways.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Ground Beef
  • 1 yellow onion - diced
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 10 oz can diced tomatoes with green chili's such as Rotel
  • 1 28 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 2 1/2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp chipotle chili pepper powder more for spicy
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Chop onion and heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. 

  2. Once pan is hot add oil to pan and cook onions until soft and opaque, then add ground beef. Cook beef until no longer pink and drain fat. 

  3. Add cooked beef to Crockpot and then add all other ingredients and mix until well combined. Set Crockpot to low and cook for 4-6 hours. 

    Serve in a bowl or as Chili Dogs or Frito Pie. Enjoy. 

Recipe Notes

If you want to thicken up your chili add about a teaspoon of cornstarch and a little water to a small bowl. Mix until there are no lumps and stir into Chili. If sauce does not thicken add a little more until you reach desired thickness. 

If you prefer to use ground turkey you can absolutely do so in this recipe. You can also mix 1 lb. of ground beef and 1 lb. of ground turkey together, which I have done many times. This recipe is also easy to double, just make sure your Crockpot is big enough.
