Candy Coated Bugle Santa & Elf Hats

Make this sweet and salty treat to share with your family and friends this Holiday season. These candy coated bugles are just as fun to make as they are to eat. Plus the kids will enjoy helping since this recipe is so easy!
Cook Time 30 minutes

  • 1 Bag of Bugles separate the ones that will make good hats
  • 1 Bag of red melting candy
  • 1 Bag of green melting candy
  • Fun Christmas Sprinkles white for Santa hats and mixed red, white and green for Elf hats
  • Wax or Parchment paper

  1. Lay wax or parchment paper on a flat surface or baking sheet.

  2. Pour desired amount of melting candy into a microwave safe bowl that will also be good for dipping. Melt candies according to package directions.
  3. Once candies are all melted and smooth you can start dipping your Bugles.
  4. Hold Bugle by the tip and then dip into melted candy coating. Let excess drip off then dip into sprinkles.
  5. Set on wax paper to dry and repeat until desired amount is done.
  6. Once they have dried completely dip the top or other end of the Bugle into the melted candy then into the sprinkles so you now have sprinkles on both top and bottom, making them look like a little hat.
  7. When/If you are making elf hats repeat all the above steps just with green melting candies and red, white and green sprinkles.

  8. Once all the hats have dried and are hard you can store in an air tight container! Add to the dessert spread at your Christmas party or to a cookie gift basket.

Recipe Notes

If the melting candies start to thicken up just pop back into the microwave for a bit to get smooth again.
