Homemade Peach Ice Cream

Homemade ice cream does not have to be difficult to make, nor do you have to have an ice cream maker to make delicious ice cream. This homemade peach ice cream has fresh, ripe peaches added to a delicious homemade vanilla ice cream that is, oh so creamy.

This recipe is perfect for those Summertime peaches. In fact, I may have to overbuy peaches on purpose just to make this peach ice cream.Β  It is so smooth and creamy and has just the right amount of peach added in.

Every summer we are excited when Ham Orchards opens their doors for the peach season! We visit several times a month to stock up on peaches and fun what-nots from their country store.

They have an amazing cinnamon honey butter we buy that goes perfectly with the banana bread I make, it is the only place I buy it. They also have several homemade fudges, pies, breads, pickled everything, and of course homemade peach ice cream.

Their homemade ice cream is so yummy, we get the peach and strawberry swirl EVERY TIME we go. Since I cannot take it home (guess I could but it may not make it in an ice chest) with me I decided making my own peach ice cream with their peaches, will have to do.

This recipe can be made with any fresh ripe peaches but the more ripe they are, the better. I made this peach ice cream a little differently than most recipes you might find out there. It has no chunky peach bits in it, we do not prefer fruit chunks in our ice cream.

That can definitely be altered if you prefer the fruit chunks in your ice cream. I would suggest, setting some peaches aside before pureeing and dice them up a little more, then add to the puree.

Perfect Creamy Ice Cream Without an Ice Cream Maker

Ice Cream Base – Any good ice cream recipe must start with a good base. Ice cream consist mostly of milk, cream and sugar, from there you add in your toppings and flavors. Since we are not using an ice cream maker we are going to beat our cream and sugar until it starts to become fluffy. I have skipped this step before and the ice cream has turned out ok, but beating the cream will give it a creamier texture that a good ice cream has. After your cream is whipped add in all the other milks, vanilla and mix well.

If you are not feeling peachy today, add in another teaspoon of vanilla for vanilla ice cream. From there if you are feeling crazy add in your favorite ice cream toppings like oreos, or candy bar chunks, chocolate chips, or fruity pebbles. This is a great base to get creative with so go for it! From there go straight to freezing!

Peach Flavor – To get that yummy peach flavor be sure to use very ripe peaches (soft to the touch, should indent when pushed). I did not blanch my peaches for easy peeling. I wanted to skip it but also did not need to do so because the skin easily came off since they were so ripe.

Cut the peaches into chunks and put into a small bowl and cover with sugar and let set in fridge for 1-2 hours. This is going to help release all that yummy peach juice.Β  Like mentioned above, we do not like chunks of fruit in our ice cream. So, I chose to put the sliced peaches in a food processor and processed until smooth.

The Ice Cream Part – Once you have whipped your cream, and pureed the peaches it is time to mix everything together. Mix the pureed peaches into the milk mixture and mix until all incorporated. Pour mixture into a loaf pan or freezer safe bowl. Freeze for 6-8 hours or overnight and ENJOY.

  2. Using a hand mixer beat cream and 1/2 cup of sugar for about 3 minutes, or until fluffy (like whipped cream).
  3. Mix in the milk, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla to the whipped cream mixture.
  4. Pour peaches plus all the juice into a food processor and pulse until smooth.
  5. Add peach puree to the ice cream mixture and mix well (this can be done with a spatula or spoon).
  6. Pour ice cream mix into a loaf pan or large freezer safe bowl.
  7. Freeze for 6-8 hours or overnight. Enjoy.

Recipe Notes

I have added all milk ingredients together before without whipping the cream and it has come out fine if you chose to skip this step (it may not be as "creamy").
I also do not blanch the peaches for peeling, although you can certainly do so. I wait until the peaches are very ripe and the skin comes off very easily when I slice them.
