What I love about this pizza bread, is it can be paired with a simple salad or your favorite veggie. Stop by the market on the way home and grab a fresh baked loaf of french bread. Have the kids help with the toppings or if they are old enough, let them make their own half of the pizza bread.
Our local Sprouts always has some freshly baked bread up front at the check out line. Tom Thumb and Kroger usually make some fresh bread around 4pm everyday too. Otherwise you can always keep a loaf on hand from the freezer aisle as a back up.
We top our pizza bread with our favorite jar of tomato sauce, mozzarella and Italian cheese, then we add a bunch of fresh pizza toppings. I like to sprinkle a little garlic salt and Italian seasoning on top of our pizza or you can use your go to pizza seasonings.
There really is nothing to this recipe and it is super budget friendly. It can be an easy dinner on a busy weeknight or a yummy snack on game day. Go crazy with all kinds of toppings, make a supreme or keep it simple with just cheese and pepperoni.
Easy Pizza Bread Recipe – Perfect for a quick and easy dinner or a game day snack
Just think of all the possibilities you could make if you are serving this for a game day snack. I have seen recently a jalapeno bread that is basically cheesy bread topped with sliced jalapenos. I am pretty sure that needs to be on the list of “must try”.
First, preheat oven and set your loaf of bread on a baking sheet lined with foil (for easy clean up of course). Slice french bread loaf in half and add pizza sauce to both sides. Top with cheese and your favorite pizza toppings and add pizza seasoning if you wish.
Once you have added all of your pizza toppings place pizza bread the oven on the baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes, until cheese starts to brown. Then slice and serve, it’s that easy.
If you would like to make cheesy bread as well, do not add pizza sauce to one portion of the bread, instead add butter and top with cheese. In the picture I have here, I made cheesy bread with just half of a half.
We are a family of four, Harper is almost six and Nic is almost two. So just one large loaf of french bread will make leftovers for us. I would imagine when the kids are older we will probably need two loaves, easy, especially since we like to make the cheesy bread too.
- Large loaf of French Bread
- Pizza Sauce we use or favorite jar of tomato sauce
- Bag of Mozzarella cheese and/or Italian cheese blend
Favorite pizza toppings
- Black Olives
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Place bread on a baking sheet lined with foil. Slice bread in half, long ways like a large sub.
Add desired amount of pizza sauce to each side of bread. Top with cheese and pizza toppings.
Bake for 15 minutes or until cheese starts to brown and bubble.
If you would like the cheese to brown more, turn the broiler on for a few minutes. Just be sure to watch the top so it does not start to burn.
