A week from tonight everything changes for the next 13 years. A week from tonight everything will be on a different schedule. A week from tonight I will be getting my first-born ready for her first day of school. Setting out her 1st day of school outfit, making sure we have all of our supplies, packing her lunch and her backpack. Harper will be a kindergartener. I cannot believe how fast the time has flown by! I think I might be in shock because I have not cried yet. How is it possible!
She has gone to daycare from about 6 months to 4 years old and then I started keeping her home after Nic was born and I became a stay at home mom. She loves to make new friends and I know she will do great but my mom side is just a little worried. I know so much will change in the next year but I am not sure I am ready. I love having her around during the day and I am not sure what I am going to do without her around during the day. She is such the best and most helpful big sister ever. I knew she was going to be a good sister from the beginning but the bond with her brother is just the sweetest thing I have ever seen. The way they look and play with each other just melts my heart.
I know there will be so much growing up happening in this house in the next year. I am sure there will be tears over homework, arguments about going to school, or morning crankiness. I also can’t wait for the field trips, award ceremonies, school plays, field days and everything else that comes with school. I can’t wait to hear all about her day at school and see the excitement on her face over reading or making a good grade or making new friends.
We have a week left of Summer so I plan to soak up all the Harperness I can get! Hopefully squeeze in a few more fun adventures. Then maybe, I can try to get all my crying out too so I am not a big mushy mess when I take her to school.
What are some fun things you do with your kids before they go back to school!? How do you handle the first day?
